Bras for the Cause - October 11, 2012

Please join us in participating in this year's "Bras for the Cause" event that will benefit "Janice's Closet” located in the Hunt County Regional Medical Center. Janice's Closet is a place that provides wigs, prostheses and other services to women undergoing treatment for cancer. This establishment was named in honor of a wonderful lady, Janice Weldon, who left a legacy of active volunteer serviceand advocacy for cancer awareness. In addition, she operated an animal rescue to help our furry friends.

The team members of Turtle Creek have cleverly decorated a bra that will be on display at the event and are helping to raise funds for Janice's Closet by accepting donations on behalf of the cause.

Please join us on Thursday, October 11 from 6-8:30pm at Landon's Winery located at 2508 Lee Street in downtown Greenville for lots of fun and fellowship! All of the bras will be on display that evening, whereby you will be able to cast your vote for your favorites in various categories. Please vote for us at the event by donating $1 for each vote, or submit your vote at the clinic!!

For more information on how the fundraiser works, please visit our website at turtlecreekvmc.com/bras-for-the-cause

Hot Diggity Dog Jog and Back Street Bark

April 28, 2012

Turtle Creek Veterinary Medical Center is proud to have presented the ”Hot Diggity Dog Jog~Getting’ Jiggy with Canine Cancer Awareness!” dog walk to the city of Greenville this year! This was an exciting event to help raise awareness and show support for the fighters, survivors and remembrance of our canine cancer patients. In addition to the human staff of Turtle Creek, we had another forty-seven human participants plus their furry companions take part in our walk this year! With police escort, we proudly strutted through the streets of Historic Downtown Greenville, all in the name of a great cause. Pictures from the event are provided by Keli White Photography and are available for viewing or purchase by clicking here. All proceeds from the Hot Diggity Dog Jog were donated to Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Campaign. We are proud to report that we were able to raise $905.00! We are already in the planning stages for next year’s event, and graciously appreciate any feedback you may have on ways to make this an even BIGGER and BETTER event next year! Watch our website for the upcoming event schedule and our newsletters!

Immediately following the Hot Diggity Dog Jog, we joined the events of the Back Street Bark, a subsidiary of the annual Backstreet Bash which is sponsored by Greenville’s Friends of Main Street. The highlights of the day included the Greenville Police Department’s K9 unit demonstrations, and the ever popular weenie dog races! The grand champion of the races was “Zoe” Ruthart, who sprinted across the finish line with confidence! We were able to offer immunization and HomeAgain Microchip services for many of your canine companions. Dog treats, toys and even a “howl”errific wine basket for the humans were just some of the exciting goodies that were handed out and raffled during the event.

Brookland Learning Center Pre-K Field Trip

May 8, 2012

We began May with what has become a highly anticipated event around here, a visit from the Pre-K students of Brookland Learning Center. We thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to teach the future veterinarians, technicians and pet owners of our community! Highlights of the trip included helping perform a physical exam on a dog, recognition of common parasites, examination of radiographs and ultrasound and finally, a trip through the surgical suite with their gloves, masks and caps. Pictures from the event are provided by Keli White Photography and are available for viewing or purchase by clicking here.

Relay for Life 2012

May 18, 2012

During the month of May, we turned our attention to cancer awareness for humans. In honor of our family members, friends and clients that we have lost untimely due to cancer, the staff of Turtle Creek elected to participate in Hunt County’s Relay for Life. The staff, clients, friends and family came together to create the “Turtle Creek Speed Racers” team. It was an incredible and humbling experience to be out on the track with the survivors, caretakers and loved ones whose lives have all been impacted by this disease. Through generous donations, participation in the Chili’s Give Back Night, and the sale of delicious baked goods at the event, we were able to raise $744.29! We are truly thankful to have such wonderful, caring and generous clients, friends and family. THANK YOU!
